Leadership is the single most important ingredient needed to build a thriving and successful community.  The Leadership Chenango Program, developed in the mid 1980’s, was designed to identify and develop individuals to become future community and civic leaders, volunteers for charitable organizations, potential board members for schools, and government or community organizations.  Commerce Chenango and the Chenango Foundation are committed to developing all facets of the county including the leaders who will guide our area toward future successes. 

To date, over 240 individuals have successfully completed the Leadership Chenango program, and most of them currently serve in leadership roles in the community or their workplace.

The Harry Tecklenburg Leadership Award is typically awarded bi-annually at the Leadership Chenango Kick-Off Dinner. The purpose of the Harry Tecklenburg Leadership Award is to honor a community leader who represents the legacy of Harry Tecklenburg. The recipient should be an individual who has demonstrated strong leadership through invaluable service to the community and who embodies the criteria listed on the nomination form.
